Hello All,
I pray you all are having a wonderful summer. SCVPS has been involved in many patient safety initiatives this summer. We have continued to serve on the SCHA Patient Advocate Committee, HSSC Advisory Panel, SC Mission Lifeline Steering Committee, and most recently, the HSSC Task Force on Health Care Reform. There are so many wonderful changes taking place in SC...to promote patient safety and improve the lives of South Carolinians.
I am very excited, to announce to you, that the SC Mission: Lifeline initiative, is coming soon to the Pee Dee. This is very dear to my heart. I will be sharing Ann's Story in Florence on Sept. 7, 2010. Please keep me in your prayers. Heart patients will be so much safer when this initiative is in place. When EMS pick up a STEMI heart patient, a one call activation will take place...notifying the heart care facility and also the cardiologist, who will be waiting on the patients arrival. The goal is to provide the patient with a 90 minutes or less (AHA guideline) from "door to balloon". This will not only help heart patients...but is steming over into stoke care and trauma care.
I thank God for all the collaborative efforts, of many organizations and individuals, to accomplish this goal.
If any of you know of any potential donors for this initiative, please contact me. We desperately need funds to implement this initiative throughout our state.
God bless, Jan
